The government has approved the signing of the Agreement relating to Visa exemption for holders of Diplomatic, Official, Service and Ordinary passports (the “Agreement”) with the Republic of Benin.  Under the Agreement, nationals of both countries would be able to enter/leave/transit/stay in each country without a visa requirement for a period not exceeding 90 days during a period of 180 days from the date of their first entry into the other country.

This Agreement further consolidates the strength of the Mauritius passport.  It will be recalled that as per the Global Passport Power Rank 2024 (GPP 2024), Mauritius ranks 27^th worldwide (allowing visa-free travel to 102 countries, visa-on-arrival travel to 37 countries) and 1^st in Africa.  For more information on the GPP 2024, please consult the official website by clicking HERE
